It isn't easy being the perfect host It becomes harder when you are trying to figure out what party favors to give guest that are different sex and age groups.
Solve this problem by matching favors to particular groups of guests At parties where whole families are invited, consider giving favors that are for the entire family If you played a family game during the party you could send each family home with a copy of the game. This works for couples with no kids, single people, and families.
Matching the party favors to the event theme is always a good idea; for instance at a Chinese New Years party you could have gift certificates to a local Chinese restaurant as the favors. Or if you have special barbeque recipes that you are willing to share you can give the guest little cards or a booklet with the recipes in it. If you can't let go of the family secret you can always purchase in expensive barbeque cook books to give out as party favors.
If you're having a pool party then you can give your guest things to use in the pool; while at your party that can also be taken with them and used later. This can be sun block, sunglasses, floaters, towels, etc. for the kids you can have buckets, goggles, water guns, etc. These are just some party favor ideas, but the list is endless.
Baby showers are among the hardest parties to choose a favor for. This is one time you may have to give party favors that are somewhat alike, but different just the same. The men could get cigars, while the women get chocolate sticks, and the kids could get bubble gum sticks. As you see each favor was a stick of something and they can all be wrapped in the same personalized labels.
When picking favors for a wedding it is probably best to choose something with a very general appeal. You can have the wedding bells they can keep, candy bags, etc. These are items both children and adults can enjoy
The key to a favor that can be fun for everyone is it being safe to all the guest, something they can all relate to in some way, simple, and heart felt. One favor that never goes out of style is a picture or several pictures of the party that guest can have as keepsakes. The guest will get enjoyment out of telling the story behind the picture especially if the picture was taking when the guest wasn't expecting it. This prevents them from creating a perfect pose and leads to great conversation pieces. You can also take these pictures and create mini photo albums to keep the picture together and give one to each guest.
